Soap Scum

Armor All. To prevent soap scum from sticking to shower doors and walls, polish the doors and walls with Armor All. (Do not use Armor All on the shower floor, otherwise you risk slipping on the floor.)

Bounce. To clean soap scum from shower doors, wipe the glass doors with a used sheet of Bounce damped with water. The anti-static elements in the Bounce and the abrasiveness of the sheet help remove the soap scum.

Dawn Dishwashing Liquid. To clean soap scum from a bathtub, pour Dawn Dishwashing Liquid on the stained area, let sit overnight, and rinse clean with water. Dawn Dishwashing Liquid cuts through grease and cleans older tubs without harming the finish.

Downy Fabric Softener. To clean soap scum and mineral deposits from a shower door, mix one capful of Downy Fabric Softener and one quart of warm water in a plastic bucket, dampen an abrasive sponge in the solution, and scrub the shower doors and walls clean.

Easy-Off Oven Cleaner. To clean soap scum and mineral deposits from shower doors and walls, put on a respirator, protective eyewear, and rubber gloves, and spray Easy-Off Oven Cleaner on the walls and glass shower doors and let set for ten minute, making sure the room is well ventilated. Wash away any residual oven cleaner with regular cleanser, and rinse well with very hot water. (Do not get Easy-Off on any metal surfaces; the oven cleaner eats away chrome.)

Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. To clean soap scum from a bathtub or shower, gently rub the stains with a damp Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, wash the item thoroughly with soapy water, rinse clean, and dry.

Johnson's Baby Oil. Put a few drops of Johnson's Baby Oil on a clean cloth and use it to wipe soap scum from shower doors. To prevent water spots and soap scum on shower walls and doors, wipe the walls and doors with a few drops of Johnson's Baby Oil on a damp cloth once a week. (Do not use Johnson's Baby Oil on the shower floor, otherwise you risk slipping on the floor.)

S.O.S Steel Wool Soap Pad and Heinz White Vinegar. Gently scrub the soap scum with a dry S.O.S Steel Wool Pad (no water). Warm one cup Heinz White Vinegar in the microwave, pour it into a clean trigger-spray bottle, and spray the warm acetic acid (that's what vinegar is) on the shower, bathtub, or hot tub. Let sit for fifteen minutes, and then dampen an abrasive sponge with more vinegar and scrub the tub. Rinse thoroughly with water.
