Chrome Faucets
- Arm & Hammer Baking Soda. To clean chrome faucets, sprinkle Arm & Hammer Baking Soda on a damp sponge, scrub, rinse clean, and dry.
- Bounce. After cleaning, polish chrome with a clean, used sheet of Bounce.
- Gold Medal Flour. To clean chrome faucets, sprinkle Gold Medal Flour on a damp sponge, scrub, rinse clean, and dry.
- Heinz White Vinegar. Dampen a sponge with Heinz White Vinegar to wipe soap scum and water spots from chrome. Dry with a soft, clean cloth.
- Murphy Oil Soap. To clean chrome, mix one teaspoon Murphy Oil Soap and two cups of water in a sixteen-ounce trigger spray bottle. Spray the chrome with the solution and wipe with a soft, clean cloth. Rinse and dry.
- Reynolds Wrap. To clean soap scum off chrome faucets, crumple a sheet of Reynolds Wrap aluminum foil into a ball and use it as scrubber.
- WD-40. Spray WD-40 on a soft, clean cloth, and rub the chrome faucets until they shine like new.
- Windex. Spray the chrome fixtures with Windex, and rub with a soft, clean cloth.
Decals
- Conair Blow Dryer and MasterCard. To remove decals from the floor of a bathtub, make sure the bathtub water is turned off and use a Conair Blow Dryer set on high to heat the decals. The heat melts the adhesive holding the decals to the tub, allowing you to pry the decals off using an old MasterCard
- Cutex Nail Polish Remover. To remove the adhesive residue left by bathtub decals, saturate a cotton ball with Cutex Nail Polish Remover, rub the spot, and wipe clean.
- Easy-Off Oven Cleaner. To take off stubborn decals from the floor of a bathtub, spray the decals with Easy-Off Oven Cleaner (making sure the room is well ventilated), and let sit for ten minutes, rinse thoroughly, and peel off the stickers.
- Johnson's Baby Oil. To remove decals from the floor of a bathtub, saturate the decal with Johnson's Baby Oil, let sit for an hour, and then peal off. Wash clean with soapy water.
- Spray 'n Wash. To make decals easier to remove, spray the decals with Spray 'n Wash Stain Remover, let sit for five minutes, fill the tub with water, and let soak for one hour. Using a single-edge razor blade, carefully scrape the decals off the tub floor.
- Vaseline Petroleum Jelly. To remove the adhesive residue left by bathtub decals, cover the spot with Vaseline Petroleum Jelly, let sit for an hour, and wipe clean. Be sure to wash away the petroleum jelly with soapy water to prevent someone from slipping in the bathtub.
- WD-40. Saturate the decal with WD-40, let sit for an hour or longer, and peal off. Wash away WD-40 with soapy water to prevent someone from slipping in the bathtub.
Faucets and Fixtures
- Heinz White Vinegar. Mix equal parts Heinz White Vinegar and water in a sixteen-ounce trigger-spray bottle, spray the faucets or fixture, and polish with a soft, clean cloth.
- McCormick Alum and ReaLemon. To clean mineral stains from faucets and fixtures, mix one teaspoon McCormick Alum and ¼ cup ReaLemon Lemon Juice in a bowl, saturate a soft, clean cloth with the solution, lay the wet cloth over the stain, let sit for one hour, then scrub and rinse clean.
Hard Water Stains
- Heinz White Vinegar. Saturate a cloth with Heinz White Vinegar, cover the mineral stains with the cloth, let sit overnight, and rinse clean in the morning.
Porcelain
- Liquid Paper. To cover up a chip in the porcelain veneer of a bathtub, paint over the spot with a touch of Liquid Paper.
- McCormick Alum and ReaLemon. To clean a stain from a porcelain bathtub without removing the porcelain finish, make a paste from McCormick Alum and ReaLemon Lemon Juice, apply the paste to the stain, let dry, pour on more lemon juice and rub. Rinse clean with water.
- McCormick Alum and McCormick Cream of Tartar. To clean a stain from porcelain, mix equal parts McCormick Alum and McCormick Cream of Tartar, wet the stain, sprinkle the powder on the stain, let sit for several hours, scrub with a sponge and rinse clean.
- Morton Salt. To clean a discolored bathtub, sprinkle Morton Salt in the bathtub, scrub with a damp sponge, and rinse.
- 20 Mule Team Borax. To clean a porcelain bathtub, make a paste from 20 Mule Team Borax and water, apply to the tub with a damp sponge, and rub well. Rinse clean.
Rings
- Arm & Hammer Baking Soda. To avoid getting a ring around your bathtub, add ½ cup Arm & Hammer Baking soda to the bathwater, softening the water and giving you a luxurious bath at the same time.
Rust
- Kool-Aid. To clean rust from a sink or bathroom fixtures, make a paste from lemon Kool-Aid and water, apply the paste to the rust stain, let sit for one hour, brush, and rinse. The citric acid in the Kool-Aid oxidizes the rust.
- ReaLemon Lemon Juice and Morton Salt. To clean rust from fixtures, rub the spot with ReaLemon Lemon Juice and Morton Salt. Rinse clean and polish. The citric acid in the lemon juice oxidizes the rust, and the abrasive salt scrubs it away.
- Tang. To clean rust from a sink or bathroom fixtures, make a paste from Tang and water, apply the paste to the rust stain, let sit for one hour, brush, and rinse. The citric acid in the Tang oxidizes the rust.
Stains
- Bon Ami. To clean bathtub stains, sprinkle Bon Ami on a very wet sponge, scrub the stains, and rinse clean.
- Easy-Off Oven Cleaner. To clean a badly stained bathtub, spray the stain with Easy-Off Oven Cleaner (making sure the room is well ventilated), let sit for twenty minutes, rinse, wash clean with soapy water, and rinse.
- Hydrogen Peroxide and McCormick Cream of Tartar. To clean stubborn stains from an enamel bathtub, make a paste from equal parts Hydrogen Peroxide and McCormick Cream of Tartar, and apply the paste with a scrub brush, scouring well.
- Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. To clean soap scum from a bathtub, gently rub the stains with a damp Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, wash the item thoroughly with soapy water, rinse clean, and dry.
